Let's Go Egg-less!

It's been more than a week since I last updated my blog. Have been kind of busy, and have been over-indulging in not so healthy food so I didn't feel like updating. Would have made me feel guilty. I'm back in my 'healthy food' mode now!

Oh, I was at Cold Storage Solaris yesterday and I was so excited when I came upon a new product. This product comes in a box and apparently is a substitute for eggs. It's from a brand called Orgran. So you people who have cholesterol problem, you should be excited as me to know that there is an 'egg replacer'. It's also nut free, soy free, gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, yeast free...so suitable for vegans too! So, if it's 'almost all-free', what can it be made of? It says on the box that ingredients are potato starch, tapioca flour, calcium carbonate, citric acid, vegetable gum. So how is it that all these can = eggs? Well, I don't know. And I have yet to try it. I did buy one box which I hope to test this weekend. Will let you know the outcome when I do.

For those of you who still prefer to use eggs, you can get some egg tips from Old Wives' Cooking Tips.

It's going to be a very busy weekend. Have appointments all day tomorrow and on Sunday, I have a small food order. Oh yes, I do catering for healthy food (or non-healthy food upon request :D). I love to cook so I enjoy doing this part-time catering. Besides, it provides me with extra income! However, being still new in this catering line, I only take small orders like for 30-50 pax, and so far have only done tea parties. (and weekends only!)

I do catering for healthy food because I think there's a shortage of health food caterers out there. The food I do is 70% organic, using organic ingredients as well as detox meat/seafood and use very minimal oil. I also emphasise on hygiene in my food preparation. If you wish to inquire more about my catering service, please sms me at +60104229052.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use the functions of the blog. I never thought blogging will take much of my time, especially where uploading photos are concerned. Makes me wonder how some heavy bloggers cope with updating their blogs, whilst still having a 9-5 job. I will however try to post something everyday, that I can share with all my readers. So today I am creating a page for Kitchen Hygiene.

Have you ever experienced making cooking mistakes? Like probably put too much salt, or sugar in your food?  I have shared some tips on how to fix food that has been overseasoned in Old Wives' Cooking Tips. No more worries!

I won't call myself a health freak. I just love to eat, eat, eat! And that's a well-known fact. Nothing makes me more excited than food does. My dream job is to be a host of a food programme, something like 'Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan' (a 'food tasting' programme on TV3 station ). I always think it's wonderful to be paid to eat. How i envy those hosts!

I never had any 'taboo' when it comes to food (except of course for 'non-halal' food as I am a Muslim). But when my mum was diagnosed with cancer, I went through some kind of transformation. I had to take charge of my mum's diet, so I did a thorough research on anti-cancer and cancer fighting food and realised that there's a whole lot of food that cancer patients couldn't eat.

My whole kitchen was soon transformed into a healthy food hub. I did away with all the food that is said to be detrimental to cancer patients like sugar, salt, rice, flour and processed foods as well as red meat. These were replaced with the healthier molasses, sea salt, brown rice, grains, legumes, organic foodstuff etc.Being a food lover, I had to make sure that I didn't have to compromise the taste of food just because I have started using healthy or organic ingredients. I created my own recipes and proved that healthy food does not have to be boring or bland.

I am also happy that this new diet has helped me shed 7kgs within 2 months! My mum has recovered from cancer, alhamdulillah (Praise to God) and we still continue this healthy eating practice most of the time. This blog is just to share my healthy recipes, health tips and anything that promotes wellness and holistic healthy living. Hope my blog can be of some benefit to you. :)
